- Massage for Babies |
One of the best remedies for relieving stress and tension is massage
if you have been researching ways to relieve symptoms you will have
undoubtedly read about the benefits of massage and how it can work
wonders for your well-being as well as your health.
But we
are not the only ones who can benefit from massage. If you have
a new baby, then it is up to you to help them begin their life stress
and tension free.
For some
time parents have been looking into starting their baby's lives
off in as many positive ways as possible. One way is learning massage
because it can benefit the health and growth newborn babies. Babies
require a little more than a clean, safe environment and proper
nutrition to survive and thrive. Parental interaction and touching
are as necessary for their health as food and shelter is for their
survival. Some hospital nurseries have volunteers that come in to
cuddle and caress premature babies, which helps them gain weight
and promote the healthy development of their nervous systems.
Baby experts have reported on the immense power of massage for all
newborns, even ones carried to full term. For healthy babies, massage
increases the bond between a parent and child. Massage can minimise
long-term damage or disability in young children who have some nervous
or developmental disorders.
Carefully administered massage can help to calm an infant's immature
nervous and digestive system and alleviate some of the discomfort
felt by colicky babies.
All parents trying to relieve their child's discomfort will appreciate
the benefit of reducing the stress on their child and there by relieving
their own stress and tension too.
Some hospitals offer classes and instruction on how to massage an
infant, as do community education programs and psychological organisations.
You can contact your hospital or midwife to find the nearest class
for you. Parents should take as many opportunities as possible to
comfort and bond with their newborns, this also increases the parent's
satisfaction and lowers their stress.
If your child suffers from colic, talk to your doctor or health
worker for advice on using therapeutic massage to ease the condition.
If you're considering using massage as a therapeutic way of relieving
a specific disorder, it is wise to coordinate any treatment with
your child's health worker, to be sure there are no complications.

2007 - Ideas For Christmas Presents 2007 |
If
you celebrate Christmas, you will look forward to this time of the
year. If you have children, you may also think it can be a major
headache. Most kids want toys for Christmas, and it is of course,
up to you to provide them.
What do your little ones want this year? Are you aware of the hottest
new toys this Christmas? How can you possibly decide what to buy?
However, if you can figure out what is on your child's Christmas
list ahead of time, you will surely be ahead of the game. You see,
the trouble with waiting until the last minute is actually getting
what you want. The most popular toys sell out quickly and if you
are looking for popular toys for Christmas on the 24th of December,
you may just be out of luck. It's tough; virtually all the most
popular toys are sold out. Sounds familiar?
Start to look for Christmas present ideas in October
I find out what the children in my family want for Christmas, and
I purchase the Toys in October when they come on sale. That's a
pretty decent head start. This ensures that I get the toy I'm after.
Now, I do realise that there are always more toys for Christmas
to pick and choose from, but are they the ones off the list? Your
children will notice if they don’t get what is on their list.
They always do. Once they get their little hearts set on specific
toys for Christmas, you'd better find them quick. This is why I
like to get started well in advance.
Do your Christmas present research online
You will get the ideas for unusual Christmas presents online. The
best place to find toys for Christmas is online. Sometimes you will
have to look for a little longer but it is worth it and it will
be much less stressful than hurrying through the department shops
on very busy shopping days with thousands of other parents. Instead:
search on Google.co.uk and pop in the name “happykidshoes.com”
There you will find the option to buy all your Christmas Gifts and
Toys and unique toddlers and children’s shoes, these make
great gifts for nieces, nephews and friends’ children too.
You can also shop for the rest of your Christmas gifts and Christmas
toys while you are on the site, one stop shop without leaving your
armchair, Easy!
Ideas for Christmas gifts for babies and toddlers is endless, from
small toys, wooden puzzles, educational DVDs, to songs on CD's and
designer label clothes which will all be popular this Christmas.
Baby blankets, bibs, photo albums and frames will all be in demand
as Christmas gifts.
You may be worried about harmful substances that could be present
in some items especially with the recent recall of certain mass
produced toys. You want to be sure that the gifts you choose are
made to a high standard.
Educational Toys from the Early Learning Centre, Toys R Us and Brightminds
are great places to buy toys for Christmas too; these toys are designed
to help stimulate senses, imagination and creativity. As your baby
grows, look for toys that stimulate the imagination, encourage role-play,
manual dexterity and counting skills. Through play, these toys can
encourage the family to play together too. Choose toys for quality
and not price, as these are likely to be made carefully from quality
materials and are often handmade rather than mass produced. They
should also last longer too.
Christmas gifts for the man in your life, the choice is extensive
from belts and ties to adventure trips or bottles of wine, socks
and underwear. Men also like to receive BBQ or fishing gear, jumpers,
CDs/DVD and chocolates.
Need to buy Christmas gifts for women this year, the ideas are endless,
from chocolates and flowers to perfume and lingerie maybe some beautiful
clothes or jewelry. Listen for ideas, they’re bound to drop
a few hints!
Join the internet shopping revolution and start your online Christmas
shopping today!
I have tried to cover as many Christmas gift ideas as possible but
there are many more, take a look online it’s so easy and you
don’t have to wait until you have a day off to go Christmas
shopping!
I guess kids young and old can never receive too many gifts for
Christmas!

- Shopping for toddlers and childrens' shoes |
Children wear
through and grow out of shoes so quickly it seems like we are always
shopping for kids shoes. Toddlers' feet can grow a whole size or
more every three months and playtime takes its toll too. Keeping
an eye on your child's growing feet is essential.
You may not
know when it's time for a new pair of kids shoes unless your child
complains of their shoes or sneakers being uncomfortable or their
feet feeling sore. It is a good idea to keep an eye on their feet
to make sure there's no redness or rubbing, which indicates the
shoes have become too small. Look for worn areas on the heel and
toe area of the shoes, split seems or toes bulging out of the shoes
are all signs that a new pair of shoes is needed.
Shopping for
kids shoes doesn't have to be as difficult as it sometimes maybe,
especially now most of us have the internet for online shopping
at home. Shopping for girls, boys and babies shoes while sitting
in the comfort of your armchair is bliss compared to battling with
reluctant toddlers in a shoe shop on a busy Saturday afternoon.
Here are some
tips that will help you be certain that your child's shoes fit properly.
Measure your child's feet on a regular basis, with their socks on,
from the tip of the big toe to the heel. Measure both feet and use
the larger of the two measurements, to select the size. Toddlers
tend to curl their toes when you try to measure, so make sure their
feet are flat. It maybe easier to stand your child on a piece of
paper and draw around their feet first, then take the measurements
from this. First shoes should measure ½ inch from the toes
for proper movement and fit.
If your child
is not into shoe shopping, looking on the internet at various online
shoe stores is ideal as there are many different sites to choose
from. Head to these internet sites for a great source of different
types and styles of childrens' shoes some of which are for limited
wear, such as dress shoes and playtime shoes. If you are clear about
your child's shoe size or have measured them at home you can save
a bundle at these discounters. However many of these stores don't
have all sizes, narrow or wide shoes. But a child will always grow
into them if you buy a size too big. If a heel is too wide but the
rest of the shoe fits, try heel pads (available at some shoe shops
and chemists). Although it may be difficult to resist you must wait
until the shoes fit before they start wearing them.
Childrens' shoes
should have velcro or laces, avoid backless, slip-on shoes and heels.
Flat shoes are the best for children. Look for leather shoes or
canvas shoes which allow the child's foot to keep cool and breathe,
avoiding blisters. The soles should be flexible and sturdy enough
to support the feet.
Let your child
choose a bright or favourite colour, have fun with pictures and
novelty shoes, these are ideal for playtime and having fun. Find
details of squeaky baby and toddler shoes at www.happykidshoes.com.
Encourage your
toddler to walk, run about and have fun with their first shoes,
try squeaky shoes, they squeak like a rubber bath duck when the
heel goes down, encouraging the child to walk properly (heel to
toe)
Buy a pair of
play shoes or trainers, which your child can wear every day. This
pair will take some rough and tumble, so look for quality or cheaper
shoes that can be replaced easily. Leather and canvas shoes will
always last longer than vinyl. Invest in velcro fasteners, but children
will need to learn how to tie laces before going to school.
Canvas shoes
and sandals are ideal for the summer months and holidays especially
as they can be sponged down to keep them clean and canvas is cooler
than leather or plastic.
Childrens winter
boots and shoes should be bought a size too big as woolly socks
will take up the rest of the room inside the boot.
Most of all
make sure shoe wearing is comfortable and fun for both you and your
child, shoes with lights on and ones that make noises like squeaky
shoes (www.happykidshoes.com) are a huge hit with toddlers and both
can be found in both discounted and quality styles. |
